Blog #6

I really liked the perspective of Lamott in their writing. It almost felt like she was wrestling with the paper, trying to capitulate it and have the paper call ‘uncle’. The concept of doing creative writing and allowing your characters to ‘do whatever they want to do’ was really interesting to me. Some kind of personal, author-to-work narrative could go on without the possibility of judgement from the reader due to the fact that it can be changed. For me, I feel like everything that I write has to be coherent and has to be onto something but it was nice to be reminded that the first draft doesn’t have to be like that.

In the revision of my paper, I plan on developing some ideas further, like the EA focusing on lower/middle class people in first world countries rather than the upper class and perhaps the meaning of art to both of them. I also think I will further look into racism in art but also how it can be a tool to counter it. Sitting down and really taking a long, hard look at it tomorrow, I’m excited to see what all I can come up with.
